In this article, we explain how to recognize phishing, what to do if you click on a <strong>phishing link<\/strong>, and how to protect yourself \u2013 based on current insights and reliable sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is phishing?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Phishing is a trick where someone pretends to be a <strong>trusted organization<\/strong>, such as your bank or a government agency. Through emails, text messages, or phone calls, they try to persuade you to share information or click on links. This type of fraud is often professionally executed, but with a keen eye, you can recognize the <strong>warning signs<\/strong> in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to recognize a phishing email?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At first glance, a phishing email may look genuine. Go directly to the organization\u2019s website by typing the web address yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does a phishing phone call sound like?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Phishing over the phone \u2013 also called <strong>vishing<\/strong> \u2013 is becoming increasingly common. You may receive a call from someone pretending to be a <strong>bank employee<\/strong> or a staff member of an official organization. Hang up and contact your bank directly using an official number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens if you click on a phishing link?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you click on a phishing link, there are two common risks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">You end up on a <strong>fake website<\/strong> and enter your information there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">You unknowingly download <strong>malware<\/strong>, giving criminals access to your device.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">In both cases: <strong>act quickly<\/strong>. Change your passwords and contact your bank.
